Tyrese coming back with a double album

by

Alan MarkfieldIt’s been four years since Tyrese hit number one for the first time in his career on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Album chart with Black Rose, and since then, the American Music Award winner has been busy with his very prosperous acting career. In 2017, he returned in The Fate of the Furious, and he’s currently shooting the ninth film in the blockbuster franchise, Fast & Furious 9.

Tyrese is now finishing his seventh studio album. He says he takes his time with music.

“Money can’t motivate it. Timelines can’t motivate it. Buzz and hype and energy can’t motivate it,” the 40-year-old entertainer tells ABC Audio. “So when you hear songs like ‘Shame,’ or where you listen to the body of work that I poured into Black Rose and you see how successful it was, it’s a reminder to protect the gift and not abuse it from just using it all the time.”

Tyrese enjoys his dual career, and he says when he’s recording, his entire focus is on his music.

“When it get into that head space, I can’t get no phone calls. They can’t be like, yo you got an interview, you know they want you to go do some reshoots. I can’t bounce from one head space to the next when it come to the music,” he says.

The “Sweet Lady” singer is bringing back his Black Ty hip hop persona he debuted on Black Rose for his next music release.

“I got something coming,” Tyrese says. “It will be a double album.”

No word on the release date for the new album. You can see Tyrese in his new film, Black and Blue co-starring Naomie Harris, which opens in theaters today.
