by

Voltron RecordzTyrese showed off his acting chops in the video for “Shame,” and now he’s looking to debut the visual on a larger platform.

The singer took to Instagram to let his fans know that he needs their assistance for what he calls a “film festival mission.”

“I need your #HELP and energy to get our short film SHAME into the #TorontoFilmFestival and the #TelluRide film festival,” he wrote before giving a lengthy synopsis of the 25-minute long film, produced by Denzel Washington and co-starring Jennifer Hudson.

“SHAME is a dramatic musical short film about a struggling 1968 soul singer Lionel Jacobs played by Tyrese Gibson who’s married to his background singer Bobbi Ann Jacobs played by Oscar award winning actress Jennifer Hudson,” he explains.  “They have a family with two kids, they perform every night at a nightclub in Detroit Lionel starts garnishing a lot of local popularity from his voice and live stage presence then becomes mentally, spiritually and physically abusive towards his wife with his power – drinking, drugs and we later discover that Lionel is caught up in a love triangle with between his wife and one of his other background singers Mary Ann Atkins.”

Tyrese continues that the film, directed by noted music video director Paul Hunter, also will include “a full soundtrack featuring A-List R&B soul recording artist.” He adds, “If you have any connects to get us into these 2 film festivals lets do this!!! ( Go online now type in Tyrese Shame Video ) this short feels like Dreamgirls or the movie Ray!”

“Shame” is the second single off his final album, Black Rose, available now.
