Tyrese Scores First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 with Black Rose

Voltron RecordzTyrese has scored his first number-one album on the Billboard 200 with his latest album, Black Rose.

According to the publication, the singer’s independent offering sold 86,000 unit equivalents during the week ending July 16. The set, which will be Tyrese’s final album, was released via his own imprint, Voltron Recordz.

Tyrese expressed his gratitude in a lengthy post on Instagram. “YOU the fans and supporters We did it!! We made a statement….. R&B is still very much ALIVE,” he writes in the caption. “R&B consumers are still very much here you were just waiting on #BlackRose Embrace and enjoy this #BlackRose album it’s my baby its my heart… It’s my BEST!!”

Ty adds, “Thank You father God. I have NO pride or ego when it comes to going ALL OUT to produce result.  I am pride-less. And Gods favor has been priceless.”

Black Rose marks the singer’s sixth album, three of which have cracked the top 10. His latest single, “Shame,” currently sits at #13 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
