Viola Davis covers the latest issue of People magazine, on stands today. In the accompanying interview, she speaks about her journey out of poverty and how her struggles made her into the person she is today. “I count it all as joy. I do,” she says. “All of those things happened to me, but I own it. And it’s a part of who I am.” Davis’ memoir, Finding Me, comes out April 26.

— Dominique Fishback has been tapped as the lead in Donald Glover’s new Amazon project, Deadline reports. The as-yet-untitled series reportedly focuses on a “Beyoncé-like figure.” Also of note, former President Barack Obama’s daughter Malia Obama is a writer on the series.

Deadline also reports that Ne-Yo has signed on for the indie romantic comedy The Pact, which co-stars  Kym Whitley and Tyler Kay Whitley. The film’s soundtrack will feature music from The Family, The Jackson 5, Angie Stone, Ant Clemons, Gerald Levert and gospel singer Carvin Winans, who’s recorded a new version of the Sade song, “Somebody Broke My Heart.”

— Lizzo is hosting and performing on SNL this weekend. In new promos for the episode, she assures Kenan Thompson she hasn’t been cloned for the dual roles…or has she?
