ABC/Eddy ChenJohn Legend has been very vocal about his opinion of President Donald Trump and the state of American politics since last year’s election, but the singer’s most recent thoughts about the Trump presidency couldn’t have been more blunt.
“Impeach him,” John tweeted Tuesday, after Trump’s shocking decision to fire FBI Director James Comey.
That tweet received over 69,000 likes and was retweeted close to 30,000 times.
The entertainer has became a major force in politics and an advocate for social change within the past year. He was recently named one of Town & Country magazine’s top 50 philanthropists of the year.
Recognized for his work to reform the criminal justice system and end mass incarceration, Legend says he was inspired to take up the issue after accepting the Oscar for “Glory,” his song in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.-inspired film, Selma.
John also initiated the nonprofit campaign #FreeAmerica, and is launching a fund called Unlocked Futures, which provides grants to help formerly incarcerated people to launch businesses.
