As the Trump campaign continues challenging results of the 2020 election, a recount of two of Wisconsin’s largest Democratic counties turned up more votes … for Joe Biden.
The campaign demanded and paid $3M for the recount which proved favorable for the President-elect by 87 votes.
Meantime, campaign lawyers have pretty much been laughed out of court amid baseless claims of ‘massive voter fraud.’
In a scathing opinion, a federal appeals court sided with a lower court to throw the Trump campaign’s challenge to the certification of the election results in Pennsylvania.
In a scathing opinion, Trump 2017 appointeee Judge Stephanos Bibos wrote, “Free, fair elections are the lifeblood of our democracy. Charges of unfairness are serious. But calling an election unfair does not make it so.
Tossing out millions of mail-in ballots would be drastic and unprecedented, disenfranchising a huge swath of the electorate and upsetting all down-ballot races too. Voters, not lawyers, choose the President. Ballots, not briefs, decide elections.”
In response, Trump’s attorneys tweeted, “On to SCOTUS!”
But former acting U.S. Solicitor General Neal Katyal doesn’t believe that a Supreme Court challenge will succeed.
Katyal tweeted, “It’s hard to imagine a stronger smackdown. The 3rd Circuit has totally destroyed Trump’s claims in Pennsylvania. He called the ruling “devastating,” telling NPR, “I went to school with Judge Bibas. He didn’t suffer fools gladly then. He’s very conservative, but that is the point: True conservatives see this lawsuit for what it is — a baseless attack on our democracy.”
