“Songs like ‘Hipsters’…it’s us being unafraid to speak our mind about a number of issues,” says singer-songwriter Claude Kelly.

The tune’s lyrics — along with its accompanying visual — certainly back up Louis York’s “weird is cool” motto as well.

“I sincerely hope you don’t think/That I’m just gonna up and follow you/’Cause you walk like that/and you talk like that/And you seem to be so cool,” Claude sings while producer-instrumentalist Chuck Harmony plays piano.  “Well I think I’m pretty cool too/I don’t care if you don’t agree.”

“The reason we came out as Louis York is to fix some of what we thought was missing, musically,” Claude explains. “And what that really is is art needs to be reflecting life, more than just pretending to be.”

“Hipsters” is from on the duo’s 2016 studio project, Masterpiece Theater: Act II.
