Deadline reports that the R&B group have teamed up with Love & Hip Hop franchise producer Mona Scott-Young for the project and are now offering it to networks.

The group’s authorized movie will compete with a planned TV One biopic about the quartet, which the network recently announced as a part of their upcoming slate of programming.

As previously reported, that film is titled Who Can I Run To: The Xscape Story, but the group has not signed off on it.

Deadline quotes the group as saying in a statement, “We feel the recent announcement of an unauthorized biopic on our lives is disrespectful and disappointing. We are not, in any way, participating in that project and it will never ‘represent’ our true story.”

Xscape shocked fans earlier this year by announcing on social media that they were officially reuniting. Their last studio album, titled Traces of My Lipstick, was released in 1998.
