Dr. Opal Lee is releasing a new memoir titled A Committee of One: How Faith + Action = A PurposeFULL Life. The book will detail her life as a teacher, activist, and humanitarian. The “Grandmother of Juneteenth”, who played a key role in making Juneteenth a federal holiday, will participate in the annual Juneteenth walk in Fort Worth at the age of 99. Her granddaughter, Dione Sims, is excited for the book’s release on June 2nd and hopes that Juneteenth walks will be held in all 50 states by 2030.
