Kirk Franklin and his wife Tammy have given back to several teens from across Dallas/Ft. Worth this week. The Franklin’s free music camp, Camp Lotus took place at Franklin’s Arlington studio.
“It was all a dream….To have my own music camp for kids that were like me…Kids that felt overlooked or misunderstood, but could still hear a song in their head telling them it will get better” Franklin posted on his Instagram page. “And I wanted it to be FREE! CAMP LOTUS, named after the beautiful flower that grows out of muddy and mirky environments, finally happened this week! I promise to never leave dreams on the pillow.”
The Franklins offered Camp Lotus through their Franklin Imagine Group, and it’s designed for students in grades 9-12 who are recommended by their choir teachers, pastors or worship leaders.
