Usher: “If Your Are Poor, You Are Guilty Until Proven Innocent”

Usher appears in a new National Geographic and P&G special called “ACTIVATE” to discuss the disparity between the people who can afford bail when the get locked and those (mostly Black people) that can’t afford cash bail.  Seventy percent of people locked up in the United States have not been convicted of a crime, they simple can’t afford the bail to be released from jail and wait for their trial date. The singer reminds us that the “cash bail creates two social classes.”

California will vote in November 2020 to eliminate the cash bail system.
