USA Women Repeat World Cup Soccer Champs

It was a slow start for Team USA today but the United States Women’s reign as Women’s World Cup 2019 Champions for the 2nd time in a row.  The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) champs beat the Netherlands (2-0), led by Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle. Rapinoe won the top player honor as the 2019 recipient of the Golden Ball. It’s the fourth Women’s World Cup tittle for the U.S.team. 

It’s really a reason to celebrate until they start passing out the prize money. Compared to the winning prize awarded to the men’s tournament. The organization has proposed the prize money to increase from $30 million to $60 million compared to their male counterparts at $400 million.

Blatant pay inequality exists even at the highest level of performance for females athletes.
