The legal defense team for Karmelo Anthony has filed a motion not only to recuse the presiding judge, but also to get a new trial.
The request for a new trial was raised based on constitutional and legal challenges stemming from the trial and his defense team is asking it to be reviewed by an independent judge.
Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the stabbing death of Austin Metcalf. This case has divided not only caused racial tension in Texas but around the country.
