Hollywood Icon Diahann Carroll Has Died.   Actress Diahann Carroll has passed away.   OMG I loved her.  She was 84.  She became the first African American woman to star in her own TV series. She played  a nurse in the show Julia in 1968.  She would shine on the 80s drama Dynasty as Dominique Devereaux. She was also nominated for an Oscar for her role in 1974’s Claudine.   Even though Diahann Carroll was a great actress, I always remembered her for her elegant style and grace.  Even when she played on the 5 Heartbeats, you could see that great sense of style.   Her daughter Suzanne Kay announced that her mom died yesterday in Los Angeles.   Carroll had been fighting cancer.  I know her and her daughter were very close.  Our condolences are with the family at this difficult time.
