NFL Makes Juneteenth a Staff Holiday

by

What??  NFL staffers are getting a new company holiday this year, with offices to be shut on June 19th.  Commissioner Roger Goodell announced yesterday that the league will begin observing Juneteenth, which marks the end of slavery in the United States.  “It is a day to reflect on our past, but more importantly, consider how each one of us can continue to show up and band together to work toward a better future,” said Goodell in a statement.  Earlier this week, the league revealed that it would donate $250 million over the next decade to “combat systemic racism and support the battle against the ongoing and historic injustices faced by African Americans.”  How do you feel about the league’s recent moves in combating racial injustice? Do you think they are laying it on too thick??
