House Passes Police Reform Bill Named After George Floyd

In a Thursday night vote, the U.S. House approved a sweeping police reform bill named after the man whose death sparked the widespread call for change.
The Democratic-sponsored George Floyd Justice in Policing Act seeks to “ensure that his death and the death of so many others is not in vain,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says.
The House’s 236-181 approval of the Democrat-sponsored bill comes one day after a Republican version stalled in the Senate. Of the 236 votes in favor of the legislation, all but two were cast by Democrats. The bill next heads to the Senate for its approval.
Do you expect the Senate to vote down the bill just to get back at the Democrats? Can police departments be reformed without dismantling them?
