Anthony Hamilton Talks Fatherhood

Anthony Hamilton touches on fatherhood and music during the Coronavirus lockdown in a new interview.
Hamilton reflects on recent events and how he’s prepared his six boys by having “The Talk,” which for Black Americans is the candid conversation about police brutality and what they need to do to make it home safe.
“You hold your head up but you don’t have to battle with anyone’s ego. Your job is to get home safely and once you get home, we will work out the rest,” Hamilton tells his older children. To his younger children he says, “No matter what anyone says to you on the playground – the kids that don’t look like you – when they talk down at you, you talk up. You take the high road and know that you are beautiful.”
While in quarantine Hamilton has been the teacher and chef for his boys and as for music he’s enjoyed Instagram Live and Zoom performances. Hamilton is currently working on an album due out in August or September.
Have you had “The Talk” with your children? How did they receive the information?
