Anthony Mackie will make his directorial debut with “Spark.” The project will center on Civil Rights pioneer Claudette Colvin, and Saniyya Sidney will star in it. In 1955, 15-year-old Colvin was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white woman on a bus. The incident occurred nine months before Rosa Parks did the exact same thing. “Not only was I moved, I was inspired,” Mackie said in a statement about the film. “It’s great to be a superhero in movies, but she’s a real live one living amongst us, and I’m honored to tell her story.”
