Travis Scott Explains Why He Is Not Protesting The NFL

by

Travis Scott is set to perform at the SuperBowl 53 next month and received some backlash from fans wanting him to protest the NFL due to the incidents that occurred surrounding Colin Kaepernick. It was reported that Jay-Z and other celebrities attempted at changing Scott’s mind about performing at the SuperBowl but more recently, Scott confirmed that he will, in fact, be performing alongside Maroon 5 and Big Boi. Moreover, Scott explained that he actually talked to Kaepernick before making a final decision and although they did not agree they ended the conversation with a mutual understanding of both perspectives. Scott stated:

“I back anyone who takes a stand for what they believe in,” Scott said of his decision to perform. “I know being an artist that it’s in my power to inspire. So before confirming the Super Bowl Halftime performance, I made sure to partner with the NFL on this important donation. I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change.”
