by

Queen Sugar star, Kofi Siriboe, sat down with Essence’s ‘Yes, Girl!’ podcast. The conversation led to Kofi mourning the late great Nipsey Hussle who was fatally shot in front of his Marathon store on March 31st. Kofi shared that him and Nipsey had plans to work together for Nipsey’s forthcoming ‘Young N***a’ video.

Kofi explained, “We were working on a video together. I reached out to him in January after 10 years of being afraid of reaching out to him. He hit me back immediately.”

Kofi went on to admit how he expressed to Nipsey the deep connection he had felt with this particular song. Kofi explained, “It’s such a powerful song and it’s my life. If I could direct this video for the West OG it’d be such an honor.’ And he said, ‘Well that’s what we doing then.’”

The two had multiple meetings and had even come up with a treatment for the video. Unfortunately, Nipsey was killed before they actually started filming. Nonetheless, Kofi feels that it is his duty to finish the project and bring the video to life.
