Congratulations to the original diva Diana Ross who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for her artistic contributions to the entertainment industry and popular culture at next month’s American Music Awards.

Ms. Ross has a long history with the American Music Awards having won seven awards and she’s hosted the show twice during the 80s.

“I have endless memories of all the years that I have appeared on the American Music Awards,” Ross said in a statement. “It started with Dick Clark and The Caravan of Stars and American Bandstand. It was Dick Clark who said, ‘Music is the soundtrack of our lives.’ So true. I am so excited to be receiving this honorable award.”

The American Music Awards will air live on November 19th on ABC.
