Stefanie Keenan/Getty Images for BallyJazmine Sullivan is getting closer to her fans in a new video series sponsored by Reebok.
The eleven-time Grammy Award nominee is launching her three-part StepForward campaign on her YouTube channel. Sullivan takes viewers on a tour of the Philadelphia neighborhood where she grew up, reminisces about breaking into the music business and admits she cried when she was dropped from her first recording label.
In a sneak peak, Sullivan recalls being ten years old when she met Missy Elliott, and the rapper becoming her mentor. “Missy always considered me a young sister,” she says.
The singer’s mother also reveals, “I named her Jazmine because of my love of jazz, so I knew that she was going to have some kind of talent.”
