Top DawgAftermathInterscopeKendrick Lamar now has a shot at putting an Oscar on his shelf next to his Pulitzer Prize.
The lyricist has been nominated for Best Original Song at the 91st Annual Academy Awards for “All the Stars,” which he co-wrote for Black Panther. SZA, who co-wrote the song with him, is also nominated.
Black Panther has a whopping seven nominations in all, including Best Picture, making it the first superhero film to be so honored.
Kendrick and SZA’s competition for the Best Original Song includes “I’ll Fight” from the documentary RBG; “Shallow” from A Star Is Born, “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins Returns and “When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings” from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
“All the Stars” is also nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards on February 10.
The 91st Academy Awards air February 24, live on ABC.
