by

Mark Sagliocco/FilmMagicWhen Pope Francis visits Philadelphia later this month, he’ll reportedly be welcomed by the Queen of Soul herself.

Philly.com reports Aretha Franklin will perform for the Pope during the Festival of Families Saturday, September 26.  The newspaper cites unspecified sources as saying the official announcement will likely come from Franklin’s camp today.

Franklin, 73, began her music career singing gospel in her minister father’s church when she was a child.  She’s recorded several gospel albums during her career, and in 2012 was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
