ABC/Randy HolmesJay-Z hosted his first Shawn Carter Foundation Gala over the weekend in Hollywood, Florida, and Hova had plenty of star power on hand for it.
Alicia Keys, DJ Khaled, Meek Mill, Normani, Swizz Beatz, Fabolous, Robin Roberts, Tyler Perry, Yo Gotti, Fat Joe and, of course, Jay’s wife, Beyoncé, were among his guests.
The two-day event kicked off Friday with a high-stakes poker tournament with a 100K buy-in. Queen Bey posted a photo from the gala, wearing a shimmering gold full-length gown and holding a thick wad of bills marked, “One billion.”
Saturday, Robin Roberts hosted a black-tie dinner featuring Alicia Keys performing.
Prior to the event, VIPs received 40,000 Rolex watches in the mail, along with a bottle of Jay’s Aces of Shades champagne.
Six million dollars was raised for the foundation’s scholarship fund, college prep workshops and other community goodwill programs.
The Roc Nation CEO founded the Shawn Carter Foundation in 2003 with his mother, Gloria Carter. Its mission is to “help individuals facing social-economic hardships further their education at institutions of higher learning.”
