Parkwood/ColumbiaWatch out, “Becky with the good hair!” Beyonce‘s visual album Lemonade has earned four Emmy Award nominations this year in the categories of Outstanding Production Design For A Variety, Nonfiction, Event or Award Special; Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special; Outstanding Variety Special; and Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming.
The experimental visual album premiered on HBO in April to widespread social media, fan and industry applause. Many celebrities appeared throughout various vignettes, such as actress Amandla Stenberg, Serena Williams, Zendaya, model Winnie Harlow, Quvenzhane Wallis and her musical proteges Chloe x Hallie.
Beyonce has been nominated for an Emmy Award twice before — once in 2013 for the Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show and another in 2015 for her On the Run Tour: Beyonce and Jay Z televised concert special.
