Beyoncé‘s BeyGOOD initiative is officially a 501(c)(3) public charity program now titled BeyGOOD Foundation. Initially founded to make positive changes in cities along the Mrs. Carter World Tour, the news comes as the initiative celebrates its 10th anniversary.
“I am hugely proud of the work we have done over a decade at BeyGOOD, here in the US and around the world,” Beyoncé said in a statement. “From scholarships to the water crisis in Burundi, to helping families during Hurricane Harvey in my hometown, Houston, it has been beyond fulfilling to be of service. Now as a foundation, we will continue the work of engaging partners through innovative programs to impact even more people.”
One of those programs is the Black Parade Route, established during the pandemic in 2020 to highlight and provide economic support to Black-owned small businesses in the U.S. and overseas. The program will continue during Bey’s Renaissance World Tour, holding luncheons in cities including London, Chicago, New York, Charlotte, Atlanta, LA, Houston and New Orleans. The luncheons, held the day before the tour stops, will give entrepreneurs a five-star experience complete with networking opportunities and the potential to be the recipient of a grant, taken from the $100,000 in funds allocated to each luncheon. A total of 1,000 businesses will be financially supported.
BeyGOOD has also launched a Renaissance Scholarship Fund that will be given to colleges and universities in 10 cities along the tour. It will continue its tradition of visiting local nonprofit organizations while traveling.
