Nigerian superstar Burna Boy hinted that his upcoming album might be released on his birthday on July 2, when he stopped by to chat with Trevor Noah on his Daily Show on Tuesday.

Burna Boy dished about many topics like having his mom for a manager and being the first Nigerian artist to sell out Madison Square Garden. He also reluctantly shared, in a playful way, a secret about his new album.

“Cus’ you’re my guy, I won’t let you down, I’ll give you a hint,” he said jokingly. “It’s gonna come out on a day everyone celebrates for [themselves], when it’s their own day.”

A somewhat confused Noah responded, “You just left me with a riddle that I’ve got to go and figure out now.”

Burna also spoke on the creation of his 2020 album, Twice as Tall, which went on to win Best Global Music Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards.

The album, and all of its great songs and features, was produced via Zoom, but Burna had to inform Noah it wasn’t recorded that way.

“It’s not like Zoom has a recording studio,” Burna joked. “I don’t know how Zoom works,” Trevor responded, laughing.

After working out the technical aspects of the new way to produce, Burna said putting the album together “just worked out.”

The music star is gearing up for his “One Night in Space” show set to take place at the famed Madison Square Garden tonight. Fans will be able to stream the history-making show, live on YouTube
