Check Out Pharrell Williams’ Hidden Harmonies Behind the Hidden Figures Soundtrack

by

Trae Patton/NBCIn a new behind-the-scenes video featuring the making of Hidden Figures: The Album, the soundtrack’s co-producer, Pharrell Williams, shares his inspiration behind the project’s sound.

“Family members that used to play songs from that era, you know, ’61, all the time, thinking about how they moved to those kind of songs,” he begins.

“So, musically at that time, that’s just where I was. I was in that space. The story has so much ascension in it, so I had to match it musically,” Pharrell adds.

The visual also shows Williams at work as one of the film producers for the forthcoming movie, Hidden Figures, in the studio with mentor, composer and record producer Hans Zimmer and legendary jazz pianist and composer Herbie Hancock.

Hidden Figures: The Album arrives everywhere December 9, while the movie Hidden Figures debuts in select theaters Christmas Day.
