2018 Parkood EntertainmentBeyonce’s protegees Chloe x Halle are opening the North American leg of the On The Run 2 tour, and they remember that after she signed them to a recording contract, they felt she was “an angel.”
20-year old Chloe first met Beyonce in 2003 when she played Bey’s character Lilly as a child in the film The Fighting Temptations. Ten years later, Beyonce signed Chloe and sister Halle to her company, Parkwood Entertainment. Halle remembers it was a surreal moment when she was first introduced to the superstar.
“She was filming a commercial and it was really exciting,” Halle tells ABC Radio. “It was dark in the warehouse and she had on this glittery white jumpsuit…we were like ‘Wow, it’s like an angel!’ And of course she’s inspired us all of our lives so we were definitely star struck.”
Since then, the sisters have been Beyonce’s constant companions. They opened her Formation tour in Europe in 2016, and were featured in her “Lemonade” video, along with several stars, including Serena Williams, Zendaya, and Amandla Stenberg.
That’s why the sisters admit that finally, they’re no longer starstruck.
“We just started to realize how beautiful of a soul she is and how normal and kind of a person she is,” Halle says. “We realize like hey, this is a really cool person, but at the same time she’s just like us.”
“We’re just really grateful to have her as a resource because she’s been through everything that we’re going through now as new artists,” she continues. “We’re just grateful to have here there holding our hand and guiding us along the way.”
Chloe x Halle will continue performing on the On The Run 2 until it wraps October in Seattle.
