Chrissy Teigen Reveals She Chose to Have a Daughter, Says Husband John Legend Deserves That Bond

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have been vocal about undergoing in vitro fertilization to assist their pregnancy efforts, but it seems the couple also decided in advance on the gender of their child.

“I’ve made this decision,” Teigen tells People. “Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, ‘Let’s put in the girl.’ ”

The model adds that John deserved a father-daughter bond. “I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. That excited me,” Teigen explains. “It excited me to see … just the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserves that bond. A boy will come along. We’ll get there too, so it’s not like we really have to pick. But he definitely is very lucky to have a little girl.”

Teigen believes men show their sensitive side when they raise a daughter: “How soft they get, how mushy, and excited they get. It’s so cute,” she says.

The couple have yet to announce their due date.
