Did both Pink *and* Rihanna say no to the Super Bowl?

Nicholas Hunt/Getty Images for NARASOn Thursday, US Weekly reported that Rihanna had nixed an offer to perform at the Super Bowl this coming February because she disagrees with the NFL’s stance on players kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial injustice.  Now, Entertainment Tonight reports that another pop superstar said no to the offer too: Pink.

As US Weekly also reported, a source tells ET that  Rihanna was asked first, but said no because “she stands with the players and Colin Kaepernick.”

“The offer and exposure would have been great for Rihanna as she’s planning a new album and tour but she stuck to what’s right in her eyes,” the source adds.

But a second source tells ET that the NFL approached both Rihanna and Pink — who, as you may recall, sang the national anthem at Super Bowl LII earlier this year.

According to that source, both women ended up passing, but it was because negotiations were taking too long; the source said Kaepernick’s name didn’t come up in those discussions.

Rumor now has it that Maroon 5 will be playing the show on February 3, 2019 in Atlanta, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
