Elizabeth Warren thanks John Legend for supporting her for president

by

ABC/Paula LoboJohn Legend announced Monday he was endorsing Elizabeth Warren for president, and the senator from Massachusetts quickly showed her gratitude.

“I’m grateful down to my toes for your support, @johnlegend!” Warren tweeted.

As previously reported, Legend announced his support for Warren in the Vanity Fair December cover story.

“She’s the best candidate running today,” Legend commented. “and she comes at it with joy and with sincerity and with a wealth of knowledge and experience.”

Warren added in her response, “Looking forward to the day @chrissyteigen doesn’t have to fight with the president of the United States on Twitter.”

Warren was referring to the ongoing social media feud between Legend, his wife Chrissy Teigen, and Donald Trump. In September, the president tweeted that the couple was trying to take credit for criminal justice reforms, calling Legend a “boring musician” and Teigen “his filthy mouthed wife.”

In the Vanity Fair article, Legend commented, “We know this president has a particular aversion to strong women coming after him, particularly women of color. So he had to call her out. Every time he does something like this, he just makes himself look more terrible.”

“I don’t know that that incrementally convinces anyone not to vote for him,” Legend added of Trump, “but he just proves himself to be a sh***y human being every day.”
