ABC/Mitch HaasethElla Mai continues the momentum of her breakout year by kicking off her first-ever headlining tour, which she calls “my favorite part of all this.”

Last night, the “Trip” star kicked off the European leg of her fittingly titled Debut Tour in Birmingham, U.K. Mai’s first tour stop marks her first time back home in England in quite a while.  Since Mai catapulted to the top of the charts with “Boo’d Up,” home visits have been few and far between — but she’s O.K. with it.

“I’m super-excited because tour is basically my favorite part of all of this,” the 23-year-old singer gushed to ABC Radio. “I love to be in front of my fans and have people sing back lyrics. And, you know the energy in all the different cities that you go to is always so different, but so amazing.”

Once the European leg of the tour concludes, Mai will bring the tour to North America, starting February 12 in Vancouver, Canada.  Her first U.S. headlining show is February 14, Valentine’s Day, in Seattle. The Debut Tour is set to wrap up on March 28 in San Antonio, TX.

As for what fans can expect on the road from the Mai, she has plenty of “good vibes” in store.

“We’re gonna step it up a bit as far as stage production and stuff,” she explained. “I hope everyone’s coming to have a good time, because I’m ready to have a good time.”

Mai’s closed out last year by earning two Grammy nominations for  “Boo’d Up,” which has been certified four times platinum.  Her follow-up single, “Trip,”  has been certified gold.
