Kwaku Alston for NetflixDanielle Brooks brought in the new year in the most joyous way, announcing she’s going to be married!
“I never thought one of the best days of my year would happen the last week of the year. I get to marry my best friend. We’re ENGAGED!!,” the Orange Is the New Black star revealed on Instagram.
“So excited to become your wife. D&D until the end,” Brooks commented in a post that includes a video of her dancing with her fiancée, Dennis Gelin, to Al Green’s 1971 classic, “Let’s Stay Together.”
Danielle and Dennis have a six-week-old daughter, and they were featured last year in the four-part Netflix docuseries, A Little Bit Pregnant.
Brooks starred from 2013-2019 in Orange Is the New Black, and won three Screen Actors Guild Awards for her role as Tasha ‘Taystee’ Jefferson. From 2015-2017, she was also featured in the Broadway production of The Color Purple and shared a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.
