First U.S. Fatality from Coronavirus Reported in Washington State

The Washington State Department of Health has confirmed the first US death from COVID-19, otherwise known as new coronavirus.

So far there are over 60 confirmed cases in the United States, with the most recent infection happening among 3 people on the West Coast who did not travel out of the country, nor did they have any known contact with an infected person.

The victim has been identified as a high-risk patient in her 60s.

According to ABC 33/40, Washington health officials had been monitoring 7 possible cases of the virus, among the a high school student with no travel history. The male student started feeling side early last week with aches, chills and a headache.

He was sent back to school when he started feeling better, before results later this week confirmed coronavirus.
