Ain’t Too Proud — the Life and Times of the Temptations is set to come to Broadway next spring at the Imperial Theater after successfully completing runs at the Berkeley Repertory Theater in California and the Kennedy Center in Washington.

The musical follows the legendary vocal group from its humble beginnings on the streets of Detroit during the 1960s, though its years of success. Over the course of their career, the Temptations created classic hits like “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” and “Get Ready.”

The story will be portrayed by Derrick Baskin as Otis Williams, James Harkness as Paul Williams, Jawan M. Jackson as Melvin Franklin, Jeremy Pope as Eddie Kendricks, and Ephraim Sykes as David Ruffin.

The musical joins a running list of shows on Broadway based off musician’s lives, including Carole King, Donna Summer, and the highly anticipated Cher musical.

An exact opening date for Ain’t Too Proud hasn’t been released.
