Scott Dudelson/Getty Images)Ashanti is serious about making studio magic happen again with her good friend and former Murder Inc. labelmate Ja Rule.
The singer tells People that she and Ja are gearing up to release a joint project together. In fact, Ashanti says Ja is already in the studio.
“I believe he is working on music,” she said. “We were touring for the past three years. I just saw him two days ago, we had a show together in Indio, [California].”
“He’s definitely gonna be working on stuff and we’re gonna be doing some stuff together as well,” she continues. “We’re still on the path to dropping a joint album. I think that should be kind of cool, too.”
In addition to traveling with Ja on their joint tour, Ashanti has been working on her own album and promoting Stuck, a movie musical about six strangers who get stuck on a New York City subway together.
“Everyone got along, everyone brought their own little spirit to the table, there were no egos,” Ashanti tells People of the film. “Everyone took the project really serious and everyone knew their lines, and was on time. They wanted to make it perfect.”
Stuck, which also stars Giancarlo Esposito, Arden Cho and Amy Madigan, hits theaters on April 19.
