Paul Morigi/Getty Images for March for Our LivesEven if you’re not a hoops fan, there’s reason to check out the NBA All-Star Game this Sunday night in Chicago.  Jennifer Hudson will open the broadcast by performing a musical tribute to the late Kobe Bryant.

Hudson’s hometown performance, which the NBA says will come right before the players’ introductions, will honor Bryant, his daughter, Gianna, and the seven others who died in a helicopter crash in California on January 26.  There’s no word on what song Hudson will perform.

In addition to Hudson’s performance, the NBA also revealed fellow Chicagoan Common will welcome fans to the game with “a moving narrative about what basketball means to [Chicago].”  Chaka Khan will also sing the national anthem prior to the tip-off.

As previously announced, yet another Chicago native, Chance the Rapper, will perform during halftime at the game, joined by Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, and Quavo from Migos.

The 69th NBA All-Star Game happens Sunday, February 16 at the United Center, and will air live starting at 8:00 p.m. ET on TNT.
