Image Courtesy The Chamber GroupJill Scott seemingly has come to the defense of embattled comic Bill Cosby as he faces a cascade of allegations of sexual assault all of which he has denied.
The singer, who was was presented with an honorary doctorate degree from Temple University by Cosby earlier this year, revealed why she isn’t quick to judge the famed actor.
After a fan on Twitter questioned her for supporting Cosby, Scott replied: “U know Bill Cosby? I do child and this is insane. Proof. Period.“
Scott added, “I’ve learned not to believe too much without proof. “Especially about someone whose done so much for our greater good.” And she continued, “Sides with Mr. Cosby? No. I side with substantiated proof when media/society is attempting to destroy a magnificent Legacy.“
Jill later expanded on her position about sexual assault generally. “Rape is a despicable, cowardly crime. If you’ve been raped- plz do NOT shower, go to police IMMEDIATELY, have a rap kit done. GET EVIDENCE,” she wrote.
