Michael Tran/WireImageJohn Legend and Andra Day honored the late Muhammad Ali with a musical tribute which airs tonight on the Spike TV special, Guys Choice.
Legend and Day sang “The Greatest Love of All,” the song George Benson originally recorded for the 1977 Ali biopic, The Greatest. Whitney Houston covered the tune in 1986, and her version was nominated for a Grammy Award for Record of the Year. The Legend/Day duet was taped last Saturday.
Introducing their performance, Legend said, “This anthem has gone on to become a modern standard, and tonight I am honored to sing it with the extraordinary Andra Day in honor of this giant who forever set the standard for what it means to be a true hero. Thank you Muhammad Ali.”
The Guys Choice special airs Thursday night at 9 p.m. on Spike.
