ABC/Paula LoboJohn Legend now belongs to an elite group of entertainers who have achieved EGOT status, meaning he’s won awards at the Emmys, the Grammys, the Oscars and the Tonys.
Legend, along with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, took home a Creative Arts Emmy award on Sunday for producing NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live. The win earned Webber and Rice EGOT status as well.
Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, cheered the accomplishment on Twitter, posting a photo of her husband, Webber and Rice with the caption, “EGOT GOATS.”
Legend, Webber and Rice join just 12 other EGOT winners, including Audrey Hepburn, Rita Moreno, Mel Brooks and Whoopi Goldberg.
The “All of Me” singer, who played Jesus in the TV production, is also up for outstanding actor in a limited series or movie, at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, airing September 17 on NBC.
