John Legend, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, Kirk Franklin and more to honor Nipsey Hussle at the Grammys

The Recording AcademyThe late Nipsey Hussle will be remembered with a special all-star tribute at the Grammy Awards.

John Legend, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, Kirk Franklin, Roddy Ricch and YG will perform in honor of The Marathon Continues rapper, who was fatally shot on March 31, 2019 in Los Angeles.  

“An activist, entrepreneur and rapper, Nipsey Hussle had a lasting impact on not just his community, but also the culture at large,” says Grammy Awards executive producer Ken Ehrlich. “There is no denying the influence he had and his legacy will be felt for generations to come. We are honored to bring together this amazing group of artists to celebrate Nipsey’s life and pay tribute to his many contributions to music. It’s sure to be a memorable performance.” 

Hussle is nominated for three Grammys: Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Racks in the Middle” featuring Ricch and Hit-Boy, and Best Rap/Sung Performance for his collabo with Khaled and Legend.

The Grammy Awards will be presented at Staples Center in LA, the same location were the Nipsey Hussle’s Celebration of Life memorial service was held on April 11, 2019. Stevie Wonder, Marsha AmbrosiusJhene Aiko and Anthony Hamilton performed in the very emotional ceremony.

Nipsey’s inspiring legacy will continue with a biography. The Marathon Don’t Stop: The Life and Times of Nipsey Hussle, is scheduled to be published on September 8.

Alicia Keys will host the 62nd annual Grammy Awards Sunday, January 26 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
