Back in July, WGN America revealed that John Legend and his Get Lifted production company will executive produce its new, upcoming series, Underground, with John overseeing music for the project. Now, we get to see a glimpse into the Civil War-era drama.
In the official trailer, we see a group of slaves planning a dangerous escape from a Georgia plantation while a slave owner puts out a “Wanted” list. With tensions high, they are assisted by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad.
The series stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Empire breakout star Jussie Smollett as well as Christopher Meloni, Reed Diamond, Aldis Hodge and Jessica De Gouw.
Billboard reports the 10-episode series will premiere on WGN America on March 9, 2016.
