Michael Lavine/FOXNe-Yo‘s recently announced role on Fox’s hit musical drama, Empire, has put a huge smile on Jussie Smollet‘s face. The actor, who stars as Jamal Lyon in the series, says he’s looking forward to what Ne-Yo cooks up as the music producer for the show’s soundtrack.
“I’m over the moon to be working with Ne-Yo,” Jussie tells ABC Radio of the producer, who will work alongside Timbaland, Empire‘s executive music producer. “I keep saying that Timbaland is like the Quincy Jones of our generation, but I feel like Ne-Yo is like the Babyface of our generation, because his lyrics and what he can do with a pen is just brilliant, it’s brilliant.”
While details about next season remain sparse, Jussie adds, “Y’all are not ready for what we’re coming with.”
Fox’s hit musical drama will soon return with 18 new episodes beginning this fall.
