Kiana Ledé discusses her forthcoming album and evolving as a woman during the pandemic

by

Universal Music GroupKiana Ledé is gearing up to release her sophomore album this year — the follow up to her debut album, KIKI.

The R&B singer tells ABC Audio she’s ready to reveal more of herself and her growth as a woman.

“I am working on my sophomore album and I’m really excited because it’s giving me a moment to show a new, even more grown, even more woman version of myself. And I get to bring other women that I love into the project,” says Ledé.

She says she’s enjoyed being able to spend more time self-reflecting during the pandemic, which initially halted the music industry last March.

“We’re constantly evolving, constantly growing and life is happening. But this last year, a lot of life has happened and we all kind of bonded over a big trauma and we’ve shared the same trauma,” Ledé continues. “But also, I’ve been given the time weirdly to sit with my own traumas…and just with myself and learn more about myself, dive deeper and grow and just analyze.”

In the midst of a pandemic last year, Ledé released her KIKI debut on her 23rd birthday, April 3rd. The 17-track collective finds the soul singer exchanging vocals with fellow promising R&B artists, including Lucky Daye, Ari Lennox, Arin Ray and 6LACK on “Second Chances.” It also features rappers MoneyBagg Yo, BIA and London artist Col3trane, as well as Kiana’s powerful ballad, “Attention.”
