Lloyd Bishop/NBCLauryn Hill fans can rejoice! The R&B singer-songwriter has announced a new tour, called the MLH Caravan: A Diaspora Calling! The neo-soul artist is scheduled to hit the road at the end of August, kicking the tour off at The Mann Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the 27th. Trinidadian soca artist Machel Montano will be Hill’s special guest during that evening. Other special guests will be announced in coming weeks.
In describing the inspiration behind her new tour, Hill says, “The MLH Caravan allows me to continue the theme of unity and celebration of the many facets of cultural and artistic beauty throughout the African diaspora while on tour this summer and fall. In these days of tension, tumult and transition, an exchange of this kind can yield direction, expression, understanding and empowerment as well as connection, self Love and appreciation that hopefully overflows into our respective communities.”
