Let’s do it again: Xscape announces first performance in over a decade at 2017 Essence Festival

by

DeWayne Rogers/Monami EntertainmentThe ladies of Xscape are performing together for the first time in over 15 years at this year’s Essence Festival.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the return of XSCAPE than in New Orleans with our fans at the world famous, Essence festival,” the quartet says in a statement.

They add, “We are excited and honored to be included in an incredible lineup of artists and performers, including the living legend, Diana Ross!”

The R&B group shocked fans earlier this year by announcing that they were officially reuniting. Their last studio album, titled Traces of My Lipstick, was released in 1998.

In light of their highly-anticipated comeback, Xscape teamed up with Love & Hip Hop franchise producer Mona Scott-Young to develop a biopic project, and are in the midst of offering it to networks.  That authorized movie will compete with a planned TV One biopic about the group, titled Who Can I Run To: The Xscape Story. Xscape claims they didn’t sign off on that film.

Tickets for this year’s Essence festival, which takes place between June 29-July 2, are on sale now via Ticketmaster. For more information, visit Essence.com/festival-2017
