Andrew Chin/Getty ImagesLil Yachty has kicked off his return to music with a new single, “Oprah’s Bank Account,” featuring Drake and DaBaby.
The collaboration is accompanied by a Director X-video of Yachty doing his best impression of Oprah Winfrey as “Boprah.”
Drake jokingly refers to Yachty’s music as “being at the forefront of that movement of music that should be forgotten about.” In between interviews, actress and comedian B. Simone does the voiceover for the commercial featuring magazine covers of “Boprah.”
Taking notes from The Oprah Winfrey Show, Lil Yachty gave everyone in the audience free gifts. “That’s right! You get a boat, you get a boat and you get a boat.”
The Quality Control signee admitted he originally tapped Lizzo for the song, opposed to two more rappers. But after Yachty posted a snippet of the song on Finsta, Drake decided to join him on the song.
“It’s so crazy because I originally wanted to put Lizzo on it. I sent it to her, and I don’t want to say she didn’t like it, because she never got back to me on it, which was cool. I understand people are busy,” he told Complex.
“And then I posted a snippet on my finsta. Drake follows my finsta, which is crazy. And he was like, ‘Yo, this is dope,’ which blew my mind. Of course that’s the homie, but him showing love like that, [was cool]. Then he [told me to] send it through. I didn’t know he was serious, but he got on it.”
Lil Yachty is currently featured on Zaytoven‘s A-Team project with Lil Keed and Lil Gotit.
Following his 2018 album Nuthin 2 Prove, the single comes as a taste of fun from his upcoming album, Lil Boat 3.
