Beyonce Super Bowl halftime performance many have garnered criticism in some circles, however, LL Cool J understands the importance of her new single “Formation.”
In an interview with The Wrap, the rapper says that her song is among a long list of tracks dedicated to raising social issues through music.
“Ever since Bob Dylan … there’s always been some element of counterculture that has existed in music,” said Cool J, who will host the 58th Grammy Awards on Monday.
LL applauds Beyonce for raising the issue of race. “If you don’t raise the issue you can never bridge it — music can bring change or bring the possibility of change through dialogue,” he added.
As previously reported, protestors are scheduled to rally outside of the NFL headquarter in Manhattan on February 16 — they’re accusing Beyonce of “race-baiting” during the halftime show.
